FAIRY BOROUGH
A mobile application that activates children’s literary content using geolocalization
FAIRY BOROUGH is a literary-interactive application for children and young people set on mobile devices and tablets. The contents of the application are fables, fairy tales and urban stories in audio format that users collect while walking through the green areas of the city of Zagreb. The application is free and available to everyone.
As a form of radio drama, the entire content is sound-shaped by the voices of Croatian actors, sound surfaces and music, and thus placed in the interactive mobile application FAIRY BOROUGH, which is activated on the green areas of the city of Zagreb. What makes it attractive and different is that it is used in the open space of the city, giving the user a research role as a kind of search for a literary Pokemon.
FAIRY BOROUGH is an application that will be regularly updated with new content, and also set up in other Croatian cities. As the translation of the content into English is also planned, this cultural product will be included in the tourist offer of Croatian cities, both for domestic and small foreign tourists.
The FAIRY BOROUGH mobile application contains more than 60 stories set on the green areas of the city of Zagreb – Maksimir, Jelenovac, Dubravkin put, Cmrok, Ribnjak, Botanical Garden, city parks, etc. FAIRY BOROUGH project was created in the Year of Reading funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia thanks to the program of digital adaptations and creation of new cultural and educational content in 2021, the City of Zagreb and the Zagreb Tourist Board.
