The educational mobile application ČITATA* is primarily intended for children up to 15 years of age who have specific difficulties in reading and understanding, but also for all children who want to read and listen to books in a more interactive and fun way. It is designed in a way that makes reading comfortable and intimate for small users. The application was created in the year of reading 2021.
ČITATA contains books for primary school, visually and aloud adapted within the mobile application. In addition to content that can be read and listened to at the same time, the application is designed in a way that makes reading enjoyable and intimate for small users. After downloading the application and registering, age-appropriate books are displayed. The user adapts the appearance of the mobile application to his own taste: changes the background and text colors, font style, spacing, font size, choice of screen colors, but also gets acquainted with unknown words and terms whose meanings are explained by the narrator’s voice. Certainly the most useful option is ČKČ – Read as ČITATA, which can be used to practice the pronunciation of certain words with motivational encouragement and improve it as needed. The application also offers the ability to select the daily time to read with the alarm set. Within the application, there are also statistics – the percentage of read and unread content, and the possibility of downloading chapters is given, which can then be opened anytime and anywhere without the Internet included.
The ČITATA mobile application was developed in cooperation with a team of professionals, a Croatian language professor, a psychologist and educational and rehabilitation experts. There are several levels of action for users of this interactive mobile application.
In addition to audio listening, reading and speaking, which relate to exercises of auditory perception and memory, it also acts as exercises for the development of visual perception and visual memory, exercises of visuomotor coordination and sequence possibilities, logical reasoning exercises, sequence and coding exercises, phonemic hearing exercises. phonological awareness exercises, material sequencing exercises, naming exercises, language exercises, etc., but also provides acquaintance with literary content, brings culture, literature, expression closer in an interactive and fun way.
